It is best to have someone help you take your measurements for most apparel. Stand upright and relaxed then take all measurements from one side of the body. Be sure to check the size chart for U.S. or European equivalent sizing before ordering as the actual size numbers vary. Always consider what under clothing or under garments you will wear while riding. Overly tight apparel may cause pinching and discomfort. Lose apparel may cause poor protection from elements and wind flapping.
Neck It is best to measure a shirt collar that fits you well, not your actual neck. Button the collar and place a cloth measuring tape, starting behind the button, wrap the tape around the inside of the collar until it meets its starting point. Additional neck protection, such as a bandanna, balaclava or high collar is strongly recommended for comfort while riding in any conditions.
Chest With your arms relaxed at your side, measure the largest total circumference of your chest when inhaling, keeping the tape parallel to the floor and measuring under your armpits and around your breastbone and back. Chest measurment is for sizing reference and consideration should be given to your midsection (stomach area). A tight mid-section will allow jackets or apparel to rise while riding. Selecting a slightly lose jacket or apparel is recommended, unless purchasing a suit or zip together pants and jacket.
Sleeve With your arm slightly bent, measure from your spine at the base of your neck, over your shoulder and elbow, to your wrist bone. This is called Center Back (CB) sleeve length and is universally used for dress shirts and jackets. If unsure of exact length, always select a slightly longer length for proper protection from elements and for safety.
Center Back (CB) Length This measurement is only necessary for proper fit of one-piece suits for sport, racing or rain protection and for proper spine protection. Standing completely upright, measure from the base fo your neck, down your spine to your natural waist. Most riding suits are designed based on CB length and adjusted for the riding position.
